Planet–Sun Sensor Revisited

چکیده

Since the seminal work of Daniele Mortari (“Moon-Sun Attitude Sensor,” Journal Spacecraft and Rockets, Vol. 34, No. 3, 1997, pp. 360–364), concept an attitude sensor using images illuminated celestial bodies has been pushed forward through years. The basic idea consists extracting two independent directions from image a body, namely, camera-to-planet planet-to-sun directions. former is estimated center ellipse fitted to imaged limb points latter symmetry axis region. These assumptions, however, only hold for far-distant spherical targets. In this work, problem reformulated in framework projective camera transformations quadrics conics, algorithm estimating line sight planet illumination direction terminator ellipses, respectively, presented. method applicable any ellipsoidlike body having known orientation. first validated on synthetically generated then tested real pictures Dione Enceladus satellites gathered Cassini spacecraft. Results show that returns rms errors order angular width pixel computing nadir direction, subdegree accuracy sun direction.

Public Key Cryptography in Sensor Networks - Revisited

The common perception of public key cryptography is that it is complex, slow and power hungry, and as such not at all suitable for use in ultra-low power environments like wireless sensor networks. It is therefore common practice to emulate the asymmetry of traditional public key based cryptographic services through a set of protocols [1] using symmetric key based message authentication codes (...

QUICKSELECT Revisited

We give an overview of the running time analysis of the random divide-and-conquer algorithm FIND or QUICKSELECT. The results concern moments, distribution of FIND’s running time, the limiting distribution, a stochastic bound and the key: a stochastic fixed point equation.

Sensor Placement Revisited in a Realistic Environment

Ad-hoc networks of devices and sensors with (limited) sensing and wireless communication capabilities are becoming increasingly available for commercial and military applications. Under a national SensorNet initiative, we have built prototype deployment of a detection, identification, and tracking sensor-cyber network in a variety of locations including Washington D.C. and Port of Memphis. One ...

PENDRED\'S SYNDROME REVISITED

Pendred's syndrome is defined as a triad of congenital perceptive hearing loss, goiter, and abnormal perchlorate test. Three brothers with Pendred's syndrome [P.S.] are reported. The oldest brother has hearing loss (he has been deaf and mute since childhood) and has a large goiter. A thyroid scan revealed euthyroid multinodular goiter and a perchlorate test was performed, and reported abno...

USHER\'S SYNDROME REVISITED

Usher's syndrome is a genetically inherited autosomal recessive disorder resulting in the double handicap of deafness and progressive blindness, known as retinitis pigmentosa. The disease is also associated with psychoses, mental retardation, and other major neurophysiological changes. It appears to be more common among Jewish individuals and consanguinous marriages. While it is rare in th...
